Transit workers are all set, but supermarket workers are getting ready to strike.
Transdev workers at the Fairfax Connector – members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1764 have overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new contract. The settlement came after a four-day strike last December and the threat of a strike last week. Meanwhile, a strike vote for workers at Safeway is still on track for this Thursday. More talks were scheduled to be held yesterday, but with Safeway continuing to attempt to get out of its obligation to fully fund worker pensions, UFCW Local 400 was continuing with plans for a strike that could start as early as Friday morning.
