![]() The AFL-CIO and the DC Labor FilmFest are hosting a special free screening of the award-winning labor documentary "A Day’s Work" today at 5p at the AFL-CIO. “A Day’s Work” tells the story of a young man who was killed on his very first day as a temporary employee. It raises serious concerns about the consequences of employers’ shift to a disposable, temporary workforce, revealing a hidden epidemic endangering millions of workers. "Temp jobs drive down the wages, working conditions and bargaining power of ALL working people," says the AFL-CIO. This year, 14 million Americans will work a job through a temp agency. The film will be followed by a panel discussion with Peg Seminario, Director of Safety and Health, AFL-CIO, Dave DeSario, Executive Producer of "A Day's Work," Christian Sweeney, Deputy Director of Organizing, AFL-CIO and Christine Owens, Executive Director of the National Employment Law Project.
