![]() American Federation of Government Employees Local 1456 hosted a back-to-school fair and community outreach event last week for residents of the Stoddert Terrace public housing development. Children were provided with school supplies and other resources to get them ready for the new school year, and there was free food, face painting, and community services such as health and dental care, mental health referrals, drug and alcohol prevention and rehabilitation services, and HIV testing and prevention. AFGE Local 1456 worked with East River Family Strengthening Collaborative, the D.C. Family Court Social Services Division, and the Proactive Public Safety Committee to hold the August 11 event, called Peace in the Park.
