More than 500 AFSCME Council 3 members rallied in Annapolis on Monday to urge legislators to reject Governor Hogan’s budget and pass a better budget for Maryland. “The House Appropriations Committee unanimously passed a budget that eliminates Governor Hogan’s 2% pay takeaway from state and university employees, restores 90% of his cuts to our classrooms and protects retirement security by investing more than is actuarially required into the state’s pension plan. That is a better budget for Maryland.” said AFSCME Council 3 President Patrick Moran (photo). The full House of Delegates is expected to vote on the measure this week.
