![]() Four years ago, a career as an electrician “was only a dream" says Ricky Reynolds (right). Today, the Building Futures graduate is a proud IBEW Local 26 apprentice working on a crew doing electrical updates at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery. The path has not been easy for Reynolds, “but he loves the trade and is always eager to learn,” says Sylvia Casaro Dietert, Community Services Agency Client Services Coordinator, who helped him find his way into Local 26... “His personal journey has been very inspiring to all of us involved in the Building Futures Pre-Apprenticeship Program," adds Casaro Dietert. The program, which is open to DC residents, will be recruiting for the next 6-week class starting January 1; call 202 974-8221 or 8223 for information. "I want to become a journeyman now,” says 26-year-old Reynolds, who’s now a 2nd-year apprentice. “That's my goal, and I know that Building Futures will be there for me every step of the way."
