Anthony Randolph has been a food service worker at American University for 17 years. On Friday, September 7th, without warning, he was notified that he’d been banned from working on campus. The AU community has rallied around Randolph, a celebrated shop steward and elected leader at Unite Here Local 23, collecting almost 500 signatures in less than a week demanding his return to campus. The ban was apparently based on the accusations of a single parking officer and though unpaid parking tickets have since been paid off, Randolph’s ban continues. “Anthony is extremely dear to me personally and his leadership at AU is extremely important for his coworkers and for food service workers across the city,” says Local 23’s Allison Burket. The union is urging calls and tweets supporting Randolph. Comments are closed.
