Start your Labor Day celebration early tonight at the second "D.C. Suds & Solidarity," a once-a-month happy hour for people in the city's labor movement or interested in knowing more about it. The event is open to anyone, dues-paying union members or not. The happy hour takes place at The Big Hunt in Dupont Circle beginning at 5 p.m. Last time it drew a standing-room-only crowd of folks from Politico, Bloomberg, The Washington Post and other media outlets, as well as members of the AFL-CIO and other unions. People who flash a union card receive a 20-percent discount on pizza. Drinks are at happy hour rates from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and almost as cheap until closing. “So come on by for a cold one!” urges Local 32035 of the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, which is co-sponsoring the event with The Big Hunt.
