Metro Washington Council Executive Director Carlos Jimenez is moving on to lead a “special projects” initiative within the newly restructured AFL-CIO, where he will play a key role in developing strategic campaigns and initiatives aimed at growing union membership. “We accomplished a lot together these last two years,” said Metro Washington Council president Jackie Jeter. “Carlos has worked hard with the Council’s leadership and staff to bring in new affiliates, develop committees and campaigns that engaged more unions and delegates, and is leaving the labor council on a solid financial footing. We appreciate his efforts and wish him the very best.” Jimenez thanked Jeter, the Council’s Executive Board and staff “and the entire local labor community and our wonderful allies for all your support for this amazing Council. I am beyond grateful to everyone for the invaluable experiences and opportunities that this role provided me and hope that in some way I was able to contribute to this organization’s great future.” Jimenez’ last day at the council will be later this month.
