Ms. Shirley will be missed. Thelongtime member of UNITE HERE Local 23 retired last Friday after 35 years of service as a cafeteria worker at the Library of Congress. "Like a ray of sunshine, Shirley Jenkins worked the cash register in the Madison Cafeteria these many years, always with a smile and a kind word to say to the staff and the public," AFSCME 2910 president Saul Schniderman tells Union City. Local 2910, the Library of Congress (LOC) Professional Guild, represents LOC staffers. A veteran of UNITE HERE Local 23’s efforts to improve working conditions for food service workers, Jenkins said she plans to travel and spend time with her family. "Congrats and good luck!" said Schniderman.
