The NoVA Labor delegation marching in the Dale City (VA) Independence Day Parade captured a second-place trophy last week for its fleet of three decorated union-made pickup trucks. More than 75 members and their families from 10 different international unions (AFGE, AFT, CWA, IAFF, IBC, IBEW, IUEC, NALC, SEIU and SIU) were undaunted by the sweltering heat, which reached nearly 100 degrees during the parade. "Members wanted to demonstrate that organized labor is still strong and vibrant, especially after the Janus ruling," said former NoVA Labor president Daniel Duncan. "Since the parade was in Prince William County, we also carried signs of support for the Didilake workers seeking a union contract." Union members tossed more than 50 pounds of candy during the parade.
