![]() Analysts and specialists at Kaiser Permanente Regional headquarters voted overwhelmingly last week for a voice on the job and respect at work, joining OPEIU Local 2. The workers scored a dramatic home run after Kaiser sought to push their efforts into extra innings, choosing a path to an NLRB election instead. "We've waited long enough, everyone is ready for this," said Delores Smith, Appeals Analyst and election observer for the union... The NLRB election was the first in the mid-Atlantic region under Board's new expedited elections rules, which took effect April 14, and make it far easier and faster for unions to organize. Their petition for election was filed on April 22 and the vote was held just 11 days later. The Appeals & Correspondence department is responsible for handling escalated and highly visible, sensitive and complex member service cases with a high-level of financial or legal risks to Kaiser Permanente, requiring superior judgment and expertise. The workers will be joining 3,000 Local 2 members in the Mid-Atlantic Region and, over 100,000 union members nation-wide as part of the coalition of Kaiser Permanente unions.
