![]() Longtime labor activist Roger Newell died Friday night, apparently of a heart attack. Newell worked at the Teamsters, served for many years as Chair of DC Jobs with Justice and was a well-known community activist. We will pass along further information as soon as it's available.

I am truly sad to hear this news. Roger was an excellent man and a true advocate for children and education. I learned alot from him and I will miss him!

Roger was a caring and challenging mentor, and an inspiration for social justice ACTION everywhere. We will all miss him dearly.

He was a mentor, comrad, friend and bright light in my life. I will never forget him. He enriched my world and my classes when he guest lectured at American University with my students. I miss him everyday
