Solidarity Center Report: Health and Safety: South Africa Domestic Workers No Longer Invisible1/15/2021
Domestic workers in South Africa now have workplace safety and health coverage through the efforts of the domestic workers' union, SADSAWU, with support from the Solidarity Center. In an historic judgment, the South African Constitutional Court recognized that injury and illness arising from work as a domestic worker in a private home is no different to that occurring in other workplaces and equally deserving of compensation. Domestic workers had previously not been covered by the country's occupational health and safety compensation fund. Read more at Solidarity Center.
