![]() Thousands of retired mine workers and their supporters will rally at the U.S. Capitol this morning at 11a to send a message to Congress to keep America’s promise to thousands of retirees, spouses, and dependents. Coal miners promised lifetime retirement benefits by President Harry Truman in 1946 are on the edge of losing everything they have worked for as companies get out of their obligations. The retired miners will urge Congress to pass crucial legislation to preserve their hard-earned pension and healthcare retirement benefits. See calendar, above, for details on the rally.
