![]() ATU Local 689 has agreed to meet with WMATA General Manager Paul Wiedefeld’s designees today, after frustrated Metro workers on Sunday approved a strike. “Our union is prepared to sit down and have a genuine conversation about the issues that got us to this point,” the union said. “It is not our intention to disrupt the MLB All-Star game, and we would hope that WMATA shares our desire to talk in good faith and will not to use this meeting as a stop gap to get through the big day.” Local 689 will report back to its membership this afternoon “what progress, if any, was made during the meeting.” photo: Metro workers deliver petitions to WMATA board in April 2017, demanding GM Paul Wiedefeld negotiate in good faith.
