![]() With high summer temperatures on the way, workers at the University of Maryland College Park recently turned up the heat on the bosses. “Four to five buildings on campus are without A/C and some of our housekeepers are being told to lift heavy equipment up the stairs and being denied breaks by supervisors,” said AFSCME 1072 chief shop steward Saul Walker. A delegation of more than a dozen members from housekeeping and maintenance approached Residential Facilities Director Jon Dooley during the May 8 Employee Recognition and Appreciation Luncheon for division staff at the University of Maryland. Over 100 workers wore stickers in solidarity with AFSCME members during the luncheon and throughout the workday. “We got our point across, and we’ll be having a meeting (with Dooley) soon,” said Walker. photo courtesy AFSCME 1072 Comments are closed.
