Union members honored for Ward 8 work

4/7/2016

Two nurses and a teacher – all three union members -- were recently honored for their work in DC’s Ward 8. Katrina Clark, a Community School Nurse at Savoy Elementary School on March 29 received the Ward 8 Impact Award from DC Councilmember LaRuby May (D–Ward 8). May also recognized Laverne Plater as a woman of distinction in Ward 8 and Latisha Chisholm, a teacher at Anacostia High School.  A Nurse Consultant with the Department of Behavioral Health working at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Plater is a DCNA Board of Directors At-Large Member. In addition to providing healthcare to Ward 8 youth, Katrina Clark is the Vice President of the DCNA/Children’s School Services unit, and has worked at health care facilities throughout the District for over thirty years. Chisholm is a Science and Special Education teacher at Anacostia High School and a member of WTU Local 6.
