![]() “Housing is the biggest expense for all working people,” says UFCW Local 1994 president Gino Renne, who will testifying Thursday in support of legislation to make housing more affordable in Montgomery County. “While wages and benefits remain flat, housing costs threaten to price workers out of their homes and housing quality is too often at risk,” said Renne. The Montgomery County Council is considering legislation to increase tenant protections like expanded code enforcement, clear, understandable leases, as well as requiring that landlords justify excessive rent increases. There will be a hearing on the bill tonight (see calendar),and Renne urges all concerned residents to attend. More information on the bill can be found at Renters Alliance. Comments are closed.
