Urgency and Solidarity Drive State Fed Legislative Conference

A sense of urgency and solidarity infused last week’s Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO Legislative Conference. “The strong message was that labor cannot afford to do business as usual,” reports Metro Washington Council Political Coordinator David Dzidzienyo. “State and local leaders emphasized that we have to be more innovative in our approach and more committed to our overall mission, as well as ensure that everyone is at the table if we are to have any chance of winning on the many critical issues coming up in 2016.”  The conference also stressed the importance of affiliates working collaboratively on legislative efforts, especially when resources are limited.
