![]() “This neighborhood and this city needs this hospital,” said Dr. Lester Miles, president of medical and dental staff at Providence Hospital on Thursday as dozens of doctors, nurses, and community advocates rallied outside the hospital in northeast Washington Thursday to demand Providence remain open as is. "If it wasn't for Providence, I wouldn't be here," said Ward 6 resident Sallie Brown, who's been going to Providence for more than 30 years for care that included multiple surgeries and treatments for lymphoma, leukemia, and most recently, breast cancer.
