Here’s today's labor history, On this date in 2006, the United Steelworkers and the Sierra Club announced the formation of a strategic alliance to pursue a joint public policy agenda under the banner of Good Jobs, A Clean Environment, and A Safer World. Today’s labor quote is from the program for the sole performance on this date in 1913 of the Pageant of the Paterson Silk Strike, created and performed by 1,000 mill workers from the silk industry strike in Paterson, New Jersey: “The Pageant represents a battle between the working class and the capitalist class conducted by the Industrial Workers of the World, making use of the General Strike as the chief weapon. It is a conflict between two social forces—the force of labor and the force of capital.” Union City Radio is supported by UnionPlus, which provides unique products and discounts for working families.
